What to expect when you work with me

Your wedding day is a momentous occasion, a day that should reflect your love story, values, and unique bond. When you choose to work with me as your wedding celebrant, you embark on a journey that allows you to create a ceremony that is truly one-of-a-kind. In this guide, we’ll explore what typically happens when you work with me and the incredible possibilities for crafting a bespoke ceremony that encapsulates your love.

It’s important to point out that this is just a guide. I have performed ceremonies for people with a lot less notice and if that’s you, please don’t panic! Just give me a call and let’s see what I can do to help you.

Step 1: Initial Consultation (6-12 months before the wedding)

The journey begins with an initial consultation. At this stage, we will meet  to discuss your vision, preferences, and any specific elements you’d like to incorporate into your ceremony. This meeting is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and for me to understand your love story, personalities, and aspirations for your special day.

Step 2: Personalization and Planning (4-10 months before the wedding)

After the initial consultation, I will work closely with you to design a ceremony that truly reflects your love story. We can work through the process of choosing elements such as vows, readings, rituals, and music. You’ll have the flexibility to personalize every aspect of your ceremony, making it a heartfelt expression of your relationship.

Step 3: Rehearsal (1-2 days before the wedding)

A rehearsal is typically held to ensure that everyone involved in the ceremony, including you, your partner, family members, and friends, knows their roles and feels comfortable with the proceedings. This step is crucial to ensure that the ceremony runs smoothly on the big day.

Step 4: The Big Day

On your wedding day, I will be there to officiate your ceremony according to the plan you’ve created together. They will guide you through the ceremony, from the processional to the exchange of vows and rings, and any special rituals or cultural elements you’ve chosen to include.

Step 5: Legal Requirements (immediately after the wedding)

While I, as your wedding celebrant, will craft a personalized and meaningful ceremony, it’s important to note that I cannot legally marry you. You’ll need to complete the legal requirements, such as obtaining a marriage license and having witnesses, either before or after the ceremony. I can guide you through this process.

Step 6: Post-Ceremony Celebrations

After the ceremony, you and your guests can enjoy the celebration and reception that you’ve planned. If you would like me to stay on as your MC and Toastmaster, you only have to ask. Most celebrants don’t do this, but as my background is in event hosting and presenting, I am more than happy to step into the role.
